Service Writer

Bobcat of Lansing is an independent Bobcat dealership located at 3237 W Miller Rd in Lansing, Michigan, serving customers with sales, parts, and service across the Bobcat compact equipment line. We are currently hiring a Service Writer to join our service department.

The Service Writer is the customer-facing hub of our shop — taking in repair work, building accurate repair orders, coordinating with technicians, and keeping customers informed from drop-off through pickup.

Responsibilities

• Greet service customers, gather information about equipment issues, and open detailed repair orders.
• Estimate repair costs and timelines; communicate updates and additional findings to customers for approval.
• Schedule incoming service work and coordinate workflow with technicians and the parts department.
• Maintain accurate records of warranty work, customer communications, and job status.
• Process invoices, close out repair orders, and handle customer pickup and payment.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills, both in person and by phone.
• Comfort with computers, dealer management systems, and basic office software.
• Working familiarity with compact equipment, small engines, or similar mechanical products preferred.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple repair orders at once.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work onsite in Lansing, MI.
